Death certificate shows that she was born in Macon Co. and buried in this cemetery.

death certificate says that she was "single", not "widowed"

father: DAVID P. AMMONS
Per "North Carolina, Estate Files, 1663-1979", D.P. Ammons died 1895 in Macon County.
mother: MARY "Polly" C. CARSON

Rhoda ARMINDA Ammons is often confused with her uncle John's wife, Rhoda R. CARSON Ammons. One was born in 1833 and the other was born in 1843.

Rhoda had a brother John A. Ammons (1845 - 1900), perhaps named after his uncle John A. Ammons. The two John Ammons are sometimes confused. The younger John was married to Sarah E. Mashburn

It looks like the informant on Rhoda's death certificate was Josephine Ammons. Could this be Josephine Ammons Russell?

On the 1880 census, there is a Josephine Ammons listed as the 6-yr.-old granddaughter of David P. Ammons and his wife, Mary Carson Ammons. Daughter Arminda, age 39, was also living in the home. Other grandchildren listed are Ruth C., Laura, and David A. Even though Arminda was single, could these four children have belonged to her?
