He was a very active member of Rock Creek Church of Christ and an Army veteran. He was a Boy Scout leader, gardener and softball coach and enjoyed helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Solota Adkins Parsons; and three brothers, Denver, Clemon and Coval Parsons.
He is survived by his wife, Reva Jean Parsons; four sons, Richard Wayne and Anthony Lee Parsons, both of Clayton, N.C., Phillip Ray Parsons of Danville and Elmer Michael Parsons of Foster; three brothers, Obert and Pedro Parsons, both of Foster, and Oather Parsons of Chesapeake; a sister, Novella Adkins; seven grandchildren; and a special nephew, Harold Adkins of Charleston, Ill.
