German Writer, Philosopher and Essayist. He was born in Berlin and died in Port-Bou (Spain). He committed suicide in Port Bou, while attempting to escape from the Nazis, when his party would be denied passage across the border to freedom. Among his works are "Origin of German Tragic Drama," "One Way Street," "Berlin Childhood around 1900" and "On the Concept of History." The exact location of his body is unknown. There is a plaque in remembrance of him.
