JoAnne Myers, age 82 of Addison, Michigan, went to be with her best friend, Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on May 28, 2017, at home with her family by her side. She was born in Coshocton, Ohio to Glen and Alma (Porter) Baumgardner on June 12, 1934. She married Ralph Myers Jr. on September 29, 1956, and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1987. She lived her early life in Coshocton, Ohio and attended college at Mt. Carmel Nursing School receiving her RN Nursing Degree. She then married Ralph Myers Jr. and moved to Indiana and then Michigan. She spent most of her career at Addison Hospital as a surgical, ER, CCU, and Floor Nurse. She especially enjoyed OB Nursing. She worked at LaGrange, Addison Community, Thorn, and Foote Hospitals, before retiring at age 62. Jo will be well remembered by all that knew her. She was a kind, compassionate woman that always was there to help anyone. Her Godliness and kindness was an anchor to her family. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren by going to their events and was always there for them. She also liked boating, camping, cookouts, spending time at Lake Michigan, and her vacations to Florida, Branson, Missouri, Georgia, Louisiana and Minnesota. She loved her Detroit Tigers baseball games. She was a dog lover. This was one of her most favorite things. All of the local stray dogs would find Jo's house, a food bowl, water and hugs. Much to the dismay of her family she was an avid Ohio State fan which was a constant source of razzing. She would defend her poor choice with vigor and a big laugh and smile. She also enjoyed herself at the Senior Center in Addison with her friends and played Chimes for many years. She spent time at Daybreak in Adrian playing cards and doing crafts. JoAnne is survived by one son, Ralph Myers, III of Brunswick, Georgia, three daughters, Andrea (Vince) Beagle of Addison, MI, Pamela (John) Stearns of Middlebury, IN, Michelle (Rob) Cook of Addison, MI, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Myers Jr., a granddaughter, Hanna Beagle, three brothers, Wayne, Dean and Bill Baumgardner. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison from 12 noon until 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2017, with a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, with Pastor David Cornwell officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Great Lakes Hospice of Lenawee County. Mom also liked lilacs, roses and daisies.
