Jack L. "Chip" Sifferd Jr., 43 of Rt. 5, County Road, died Monday, July 21, 1997 at Columbia-Athens Medical Center.

Mr. Sifferd was a Unicoi County native and had lived in the Athens area for the past 20 years. He was a son of Shirley Britton Sifferd of Erwin and the late Jack L. Sifferd Sr.

He retired from Exvello in 1994.

Mr. Sifferd was a 1972 graduate of Unicoi County High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Erwin.

SUrvivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, Jason Corey Sifferd; two sisters, Libby WIlliams of Erwin and Terry Hansen of Maryville; two brothers, Andy Sifferd and Chuck Sifferd, both of Erwin. *Source- Johnson City Press, July 22, 1997, Page 2
