Norman Day, 83, of Miller died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at his home Northeast of Miller.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Grandview Immanuel Missionary Church, Northeast of Miller, NE. Rev. Dean Pofahl and Roy Long will officiate. Burial will be at Armada Cemetery in Miller. Military rites at the grave will be provided by the Miller American Legion Post #351 and the Nebraska National Guard Military Honors Team. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 16, 1929 to Harold and Mabel (Keyser) Day at their home Northeast of Miller, NE. He grew up in the area and graduated from Miller High School in 1947.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, entering the U.S. Army in 1951 and served until 1953.

After the war he returned to Miller where he farmed and ranched.

On December 26, 1970 he married Joan Lockhart in Loomis, NE. The couple continued to farm and ranch northeast of Miller.

He was a lifetime member of the Miller American Legion Post #351, Kearney V.F.W. Post #759 and the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving relatives include his wife of Miller, daughter; Lorraine and husband Barry Hiebner of Hampton, NE, grandson; David Hiebner of Hampton, NE, sisters; Shirley McCullough and husband Alfred of Broken Bow, NE, Susan Underhill of Riverdale, NE, Sarah Graham of Miller, NE and sister-in-law; Ruth Day of Miller, NE. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Jack and sister; Jeanne Stevens, brothers-in-law; Glen Stevens, Glenn Underhill and Ron Graham.
