Charlotte R. Sorensen, 81 of Austin, died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Charlotte Ramona was born on October 9, 1931 at Hayward, MN to Merl and Elsa (Braun) Schear. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hollandale, MN and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dexter, MN on July 6, 1947. Charlotte graduated from Elkton High School in 1949 and completed the secretarial program at Austin Junior College. Charlotte married Donald Sorensen on March 30, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dexter, MN.
Charlotte and Don farmed in rural Dexter for many years. She enjoyed collecting bells, dolls, cookbooks and pictures of her grandkids.
She was a leader of 4-H for over 35 years and she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Elkton, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald in 1994, children Donnie, Gregory, Nels, Brenda, and Patricia, one grandson, one great grandson and her son-in-law Andy Struthers.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Joanne Struthers, Kellogg, MN, Laurie (Lonnie Brown) Sorensen, Austin, MN, Patrick (Krista) Sorensen, Hager City, WI, Lance Sorensen, Austin, MN, and Kenneth Horne, Jr., Austin, MN; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister: Delores (Myron) Sorensen, Dexter, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 7th at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Reverend Liz Erickson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service.
