Born to Gladys (Singer) Huggler Rankin, Newton Township, with whom he resided, and the late Walter C. Huggler, and stepson of the late William "Bill" Rankin.
Douglas was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and Penn State University with a degree in business administration. He owned a small construction business in Vail, Colo., after graduation from Penn State. He then worked for Reynolds Aluminum in Venezuela, South America, for four years, and went on to manage a beach resort restaurant in Florida for 10 years. Returning to the Scranton area in 1993, he had held various positions in the local trucking industry. He belonged to the Waverly Lodge 301, F&AM. Doug had friends throughout the country.
Also surviving are a brother, Allen Huggler, and his wife, Catherine, Cape Coral, Fla., and three nephews, including Mark Allen, Scranton, to whom he was very close.
