Together, Sherry and Jim owned and operated the West Des Moines Television Shop. In 1977 they moved to Shell Knob and purchased the Big Creek Resort, which they ran until Jim's passing in 1997. Jim and Sherry were involved in the creation of the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce, and were involved with establishing the Shell Knob Youth Baseball program. Sherry sold the resort in 1999 and eventually moved to Aurora. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Shell Knob and was an Eastern Star.
