Kenneth Edward "Bompy" Sullivan, 77, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born in Wilmington on June 7, 1929, the son of Eugene F. and Merti (Boyd) Sullivan.

He received his education in Wilmington schools, graduating from Wilmington High School, class of 1947.

He worked for many years at the Grand Union, John McLeod's in Wilmington and as a park ranger at Molly Stark State Park.

He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Carl Dessaint VFW Post 1034 in Brattleboro and the American Legion in Wilmington.

He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to visit with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his friends.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernice Davis Sullivan, of Wilmington, two daughters, Linda Farnum and her husband Richard of Guilford, and Janet Finck of Greenfield, Mass., and her husband Thomas of Colrain, Mass.; his son, Kenneth G. Sullivan and his wife Ann of Wilmington, and beloved chosen daughter Jody Kelleher of Greenfield; his brother, Eugene R. Sullivan and his wife Hannah of Wilmington, his grandchildren Jennifer Littlefield and her husband Robert, Marcy Pericolosi and her husband Craig, Kerriann Jamison and her husband Rodney, Richard Fletcher and his wife Traci, Matthew Finck and his wife Jenifer, Aaron Sullivan and his wife Heather, Robert Strange, Eli Place and Otis Sullivan and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by a great-granddaughter, Adrien Jamison.

A Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Wilmington.

There are no visiting hours.

WILMINGTON -- A Mass of the Resurrection for Kenneth Edward Sullivan was celebrated on Thursday morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Wilmington.

The Rev. Charles Wallen celebrated the Mass. Music was under the direction of organist Deborah Haslund, who played the offertory hymn, "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and the communion hymn, "How Great Thou Art."

The pall was placed on the casket by Mr. Sullivan's children, Janet, Linda and Kenneth (Budge).

Rev. Wallen offered both the scripture readings and the gospel. Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Mr. Sullivan's granddaughters Marcy and Jennifer.

Interment followed in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery, where Rev. Wallen offered burial rites and committal prayers.

Full military honors were accorded by Nelson Pickwell American Legion Post of Wilmington, under the direction of commander Michael Aldrich.

The flag that draped the casket was folded by color guard members Michael Aldrich and Arnie Barnard and presented to Mr. Sullivan's brother-in-law Eugene by Michael Aldrich.

Firing squad members included Aldrich, Barnard and Alan Davis and Walter White. Taps and echo was sounded by Maurice Rancourt.

Pallbearers were Rick Fletcher, Matthew Finck, Eli Place, Otis Sullivan, Robert Strange and Craig Pericolosi.

Arrangements were under the care of COVEY & ALLEN FUNERAL HOME 44 East Main St., Wilmington.
