Mr. Berry was born September 4, 1928 in Avery County to Alvin and Hazel Smith Berry.
He was an avid animal lover, raising horses and cows.
Alvin was owner and operator of Berry's Feed and Seed for over 37 years.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Wyandotte, Michigan and of the Woodman of the World in Swannanoa.
Mr. Berry was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Berry; and sister, Mildred Jones.
