From Book of Chipman Family History gives 1764 as the death date, however, Amos Chipman was a Committy Man on 26 May 1766 and was a clerk in Sunderland in Aug 1769 according to proprietor records (film 28935). His son, Amos, would have been 14 yrs old in 1766. It is concluded he was living in 1769. Upon a visit to Sunderland in Sep 2014, it was learned the gravestones in a small cemetery on private land were destroyed by the owner a number of years ago. He may have been buried there. He was not found in the Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. Deed records show Amos Chipman owning land in 1774. This may have been his son, who would have been 23. Amos Chipman in the 1790 census was likely the son, however, there were two males older than 16 in that census. Could one of those be Amos Sr, who would have been 63?
