Mrs. Margaret M. Ekstrom, 93, of New Carlisle, died Friday, June 17, 2005, at Hamilton Communities, New Carlisle.

She was born July 20, 1911, in Boise, Idaho, to John L. and Sadie (Kelley) Murphy. Mrs. Ekstrom retired as a high school teacher.

On June 26, 1938, in New Carlisle, she married Carl L. Ekstrom, who died in 1994. Also preceding her in death was one son, John.

Surviving are two daughters, Marsha (Greg) Kirsch of Kansas City, Mo., and Ann Nita McDonald of Gary; two grandchildren, Inga and Erika Kirsch; and two sisters, Janet Garvey of South Bend and Wanita Garvey of Indianapolis.

The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at New Carlisle United Methodist Church, 300 Compton St., with Revs. Joann Kaiser and Joyce Kuhn officiating. Friends may call at the church Friday from 1 p.m. until the service. Burial of cremains will be in Hamilton Cemetery, New Carlisle. Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
