John L. Grab, of Columbia, died Tuesday, July 16 at Conestoga View.
He was the son of the late Lenius E. Grab and Elizabeth Brooks Grab. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ruth Bartch Grab.
He was employed by WGAL and directed shows such as Percy Platypus and Friends, Romper Room and Call of the Outdoors.
He was preceded in death by four brothers..
After serving in Italy during World War II, Grab opened the Park View Luncheon on Locust Street in Columbia across from the high school. In the early 50s, he sold the luncheonette and began a career with WGAL which took him from cameraman to supervisory director.
He enjoyed baking bread and walnut pies, bicycling, walking at Park City.
He was the past Commander of the Knights Templar Masonic Lodge of Columbia and a member of the VFW and Ironville United Methodist Church.
He is also survived by his two sons, David (Donna) of Knoxville TN, and William (Kathleen) of Philadelphia, daughter, Mary Kay Heisey, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
