Howard Eugene Heisler, a resident of Lorain, passed away in his sleep on Friday, June 7, 2013. He was born May 14, 1924 in Unionport, Ohio to the late Orin and Louise (Shields) Heisler. Howard resided, and graduated from High School in Crooksville, Ohio where he met his first wife, Peggy. Mr. Heisler was a WW II U.S Navy Veteran, where he served in the South Pacific Theater. After being Honorably Discharged, Howard moved to Lorain, where he was employed at U.S Steel as an electrician for over 40 years. He married Peggy in 1951, and she passed away in 1999 after 48 years of marriage. In 2003, Howard married Patricia Emery, who passed away in 2010. He was interested in solar energy, pottery, traveling, dining with friends, playing bocce ball, and square dancing. Mr. Heisler was a member of the Beekeepers' of Lorain County Association. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Markus; grandsons, Scott of Lorain, and Steven of Florida; granddaughter, Hailey of Lorain; and many family and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by a son, James; a sister, Virginia Magruder; and a brother, Charles Heisler. Family will receive friends Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. Pastor Cliff Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, where members of the Amherst Honor Guard will provide full Military Honors.
