Paula Burnette Smith was born March 23, 1980 in Amory, Mississippi to Elwood and Kathy (Koehn) Smith. Paula moved from Mississippi to Texline with her parents at the age of nine. She enjoyed her schooling at Stateline Christian School, her youth years and working at Brad & Kathy's Grocery. She then taught school for 2 ½ years before marrying Justin Schmidt of this area. Her unexpected departure from this life leaves her husband Justin, son Colton age 8, and daughter Ana age 2.
Survivors include her Husband: Justin Schmidt of Sedan, NM , son Colton Schmidt and daughter Ana Nicole Schmidt both of Sedan, NM. Her parents Elwood and Kathy Smith of Texline, TX, parents in law - Jonathan and Lillian Schmidt of Thomas, OK, grandparents: Clayton and Ada Koehn of Halstead, KS, and Pearl Smith of Texline, Texas, her brothers: Cameron and his wife Julia Smith of Texline, TX and Trevor and his wife Karen Smith of Hardin, MT, and sister Brittney and her husband Weylin Unruh of Madrid, NE
