Ira L. Hand, age 99, of Bessemer, AL, passed away with his loving daughters at his bedside, Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Mr. Hand retired from U.S. Steel. He was a veteran of WWII, and a sixty year member of 7th Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Ethel Hand; three brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, three daughters, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, anda sister.
Funeral service will be held at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover. Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
