Mary Martha Hankins Sheets, age 83 of the Baptist Valley community of Cedar Bluff, VA died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, VA. She was born June 27, 1929 in the Dry Fork area of Tazewell County, VA and was a daughter of the late Carter Robert Hankins and Arra Rebecca Sparks Hankins. Mrs. Sheets was a 1949 Graduate of Tazewell High School and was a lady who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her Church family at the Apostolic Tabernacle in Pounding Mill, VA. When her health allowed her, Mary enjoyed working in her garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Sparks; three sisters, Lena Mae Boothe, Nannie Margaret Hankins, and an infant sister; two brothers, James T. Hankins, and Robert J. Hankins.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include one brother, Victor Dayton Hankins of Worton, MD; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mary Martha Hankins Sheets will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Gary Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Carl Sheets, Doug Sheets, James Sheets, Richard Connor, Jeremy Connor, Lance Taylor, Jonathan Taylor, and Seth Taylor.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
