Sara was the daughter of Edmund Virile and Vera Ashcroft Hulse.

She graduated from North Cache High School and attended Utah State University, Weber State College, and Stevens Henager College.

She married LeMoyne King Hess in 1949 at the Logan Temple. He passed away in 2011. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions.

Sara had a great sense of humor and quick wit. She loved her children and family very much. She had a great love and respect for her two brothers, Ariel and Clair, who have both passed. She served in various positions in the PTA, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She worked as a legal secretary at Browning, Handy, Judd. She also worked at Auerbach's, Defense Depot Ogden, and retired from Hill Air Force Base.

At the time of her passing, she was survived by one daughter, one son, eight grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
