TSGT U.S. Air Force, (Ret.), William Ray "Bill" Abston, age 59, a resident of Harriman, Tennessee passed away and went from the arms of his family to the loving arms of Our Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN. He was born August 8, 1953 in Rockwood, TN to James Claude "Jack" Abston and Patricia L. Martin Abston. Mr. Abston was a member of the Lee Village Baptist Church, Harriman, Tennessee and was a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service in Oak Ridge, TN. He was a Retired Tech Sergeant with the United States Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his father, James C. "Jack" Abston.
Survivors include Wife Cathy Abston of Harriman, Tennessee Sons Arthur Abston of Kingston, Tennessee Dave Abston of Kingston, Tennessee Step-Children Ronald Shillings (Chrissy) of Rockwood, Tennessee Thomas Morgan of Harriman,Tennessee Amanda Housley (Patrick Housley) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee Lee Morgan of Harriman, Tennessee Grandchildren Ashiya,Christian, Zoey, Nathan, Ian, Emily, Jazmyne Mother & Step-Father: Pat & Bill James of Spring City, Tennessee Brother David Abston (Mary) of Bristol, Tennessee Sisters Annette Abston of Bradenton, FL Judy Abston of Bradenton, FL Several Nieces & Nephews
Arrangements are as follows Memorial Service will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Matt Cannon, officiating. Full-Military Honors will be conducted by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. Concluding Services /Interment will be at a later date in The East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway in Knoxville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers the Family request Memorials be sent to American Heart Association.
