Mrs. Ellen Eddins, 79, widow of the late John Eddins, and an aunt of A. Tally Eddins, Jr., of Harrisonburg, died yesterday afternoon at two o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Shifflett, near Mt. Crawford, after a lingering illness... Mrs. Eddins was well-known in the Mt. Crawford and North River communities where she spent her entire life. She was a Miss Monger before marriage and was born and reared near North River. Her husband, who was engaged in farming, died seven years ago. She was a life-long member of the Fairview Methodist and always took an active part in all religious affairs. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the Pleasant Grove United Brethren Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery nearby. No other arrangements had been made last night. She is survived by, five sons - Carlton Eddins, of Washington; Carl and Charles Eddins, of Brunswick, Md.; Talley Eddins, Sr., of Mt. Sidney and Marvin Eddins, of Bridgewater; four daughters - Mrs. George Carver, of North River; Mrs. Kenny Landis, of Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. I. M. Van Pelt, of Burketown and Mrs. E. W. Shifflett, of Mt.Crawford, at whose home she died: one sister - Mrs. Sarah Gooden, of Covington; one brother - John J. Monger, of Sellman, Md.; 23 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
