Mrs. Soukup, the former Kathryn Zoulek, was born in Czechoslovakia in August, 1860, and came to the United States when a small girl. She was married to Frank Soukup in 1882, and since that time lived on a farm near Spillville and later in Spillville. Her husband died in 1930.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Anna Philips, Mrs. Mary Schmitt and Mrs. Celia Ptachek, and one son Frank Soukup, all of this vicinity; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Antonia Herold, Spillville, and Mrs. Helen Shevik, Calmar and one brother, John Zoulek of Spillville. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Edward, who died in 1916 and a daughter in infancy.
