Son of Joseph & Philomena (Dallesandro) Di Jirolanio and husband of Dorothy E. (Fawber) Jirolanio. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel as an apprentice machinist and then worked at Bethlehem Foundry & Machine Company. In the early 1920's he worked as a laborer on the contruction of the Hill To Hill Bridge in Bethlehem and later as a weaver in local silk mills while he was attending Perkiomen Preparatory School and graduating with honors in 1923. He later graduated with honors from Franklin & Marshall College and then attended Temple University Law School at night. Due to the Depression, he returned to Bethlehem in 1931 and finished his legal education in the office of Atty. Benjamin Neiman. He was admitted to the bar in 1934. He was eligible to practice before the Northampton County Court; the State Supreme, Superior and Commonwealth Courts, and the U.S. District Courts in Philadelphia and Scranton. From 1936 to 1940 he served as a state assemblyman from Northampton County's 1st Legislative District. He was the first assistant District Attorney in Northampton County (1940-1944) but was defeated 3 times for the Democratic nomination as the District Attorney. Upon the death of State Senator Gus P. Verona, he was elected state senator and served in that position until 1967. He served as Bethlehem's Democratic City Committee chairman 1963-72, and was Northampton County Democratic Party chairman for eight years until retiring in 1980. He had also served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention several times and once served as the convention doorkeeper.
