Cleta Jewel Johnson
Cleta Jewel Johnson, 78, died Monday, June 19, 2000, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma following a lengthy illness. She was born August 31, 1921 to Arthur and Ercel Miller in Stafford, Oklahoma, where she attended school. She married H. T. "Red" Johnson July 11, 1940 in Elk City, Oklahoma. From 1954 through 1965, Cleta and Red owned and operated a Ford dealership, Red Johnson Ford, at Hammon, Oklahoma. In 1965 they purchased the Ford dealership in Hobart, Johnson Ford. Cleta assisted Red in the day to day business of the dealership and their farm and ranching operation. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hobart, Sunday school, and various ladies groups of the church. She also served as treasurer for many years. Cleta was a current member and past president of the Fortnightly Research Club and member and past president of Gladiolus Garden Club of Hobart and was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse association. She had also served as past president of Red Moon Culture Club of Hammon, OK. Cleta was a member of the Hobart Chamber of Commerce and various other community organizations. During the past several years she had served in many capacities in the Democratic Party.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Red Johnson on May 10, 1999, and 3 brothers, Melvin, Luke and Dwight Miller.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Dugger and husband Bill, Chickasha, Oklahoma; two sons, Dwayne "Red" Johnson and wife Joyce of Hammon, Oklahoma, and Ron Johnson and wife Pam of Carnegie, Oklahoma; three brothers, Wes Miller and wife Imogene, Lawton, Oklahoma, Gene Miller and wife Betty of Foss, Oklahoma, and Hoyt Miller of Miami, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives, as well as many friends. She was very dear to those who came in contact with her over the years of her life and will be sincerely missed by all.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2000 at the First United Methodist Church, Hobart, Oklahoma with Rev. Jack Kemper officiating. Interment will be in the Stafford Cemetery, Clinton, Oklahoma under the direction of the Hackney-Gish Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma.
