Mr. Walter Stanford McGuire, age 91, of Wilkesboro died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Wilkes Senior Village.
Funeral services will be held Monday 1:00 PM, June 10, 2013 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Paul Hugger officiating. Entombment will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. McGuire was born May 2, 1922 in Ashe County to Thomas Jonathan and Bessie Brown McGuire. Before retiring, he worked for the Town of Wilkesboro, Winn-Dixie Supermarket and Lowes Foods. Mr. McGuire was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. He served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane McCann McGuire.
He is survived by: two daughters, Elizabeth Winn "Beth" McGuire, Jana McGuire Hayes and husband, Neal all of Wilkesboro; three grandchildren, Brandyn Ashley McGuire, Brian Neal Hayes, Jr., Blake McGuire Hayes; one great-grandson, Evan Brandon Brooks; one sister, Lois "Mickey" Hagaman and husband, Von of Boone.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
