NOTE: My great grandfather. My mother, Sallie Ann (Reynolds) Hare's grandfather. Mom had the photo posted here in her belongings. No name given on picture, but mostly like it is a picture of him. Since I began our family tree I have been fortunate for many to come forward to help with the search of Joel. I have learned some of who he was. Thanks to all that helped me. I've also learned to appreciate all before me even with their flaws.

A special thank you to those who assisted me and showed interest in the life of Joel Yancy Carver: Linda Hope, Cheyanne (Britt) Zink, Martha (Powell) Harrison and Laura J (Church) Stewart and for the online posting of the newspaper article of Sandi Gorin...I would never have found as much information without their willing to come forward and help me.
__________

Mother: Louisa Harrison Carver.
Wife: Louisa Francis Britt Carver

Joel and Louisa had two daughters:
Ida P Carver (Married William Reynolds and Clyde Fish)
Iva B "Ivy" Carver (Married William Edward Elmore and Lorenzo Dow Carver)

Joel possibly had another daughter: Mollie "Moll" Wood Williams (married Dick Williams).

Siblings: William Harden Carver (married Emily Jane Powell) and Mary Tom Carver Britt (married Nelson Britt)

From all contacts I've made and research on him, Joel seemed to have been a well liked guy and well known in the communities of Barren County, Kentucky. I found he married several times, twice marrying my great grandmother, Louisa Francis Britt. Their first marriage was 16 Aug 1878, remarried 18 Oct 1911, both in Barren County.

I found online information of Joel's desire to be buried in the Glasgow Cemetery. The information revealed he is buried in that cemetery. Since then, Laura J Stewart has contact me and has attached to this memorial an article from Old Reb that ran in the newspaper. It is the actual article from that information. Along with the aide of her friend, Betty who took a picture of two unmarked graves and attached that picture. The graves are next to Edward Y Kilgore, Jr (1885-1889). Edward is behind his mother, Annie E. (Eliza) Rogers Kilgore (1848-1928). Annie is believed to be the one who gave the graves for Joel and Louisa Carver of which Joel may have worked for her father, John Thomas Rogers. John died in 1881.

Annie E (Rogers) Kilgore, Find A Grave memorial: 112639545...View of her headstone the right upper edge off of headstone can see the stones that are believed to be of Joel Yancy and wife, Louisa F (Britt) Carver.

Sandi Gorin http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00002.html#0000404 April 16, 2005, 7:35 am

Undated Glasgow Times newspaper:
"THE DEATH OF "UNCLE JOE" CARVER TUESDAY MORNING. Joe Carver died yesterday at his home on the Knob Road. He was a true and loyal friend.

"The writer was out to see him last week, and he said he was ready and willing to go. He expressed a desire not to be buried in the oil field; so by order [pieces missing], for whose father [pieces missing] when she was a little girl, he wanted to be put away in the Glasgow cemetery.

"He liked politics, and always had a choice. He was always for Bob, Thomas, and only a few days ago nominated him for president. His epitaph might be: "Here lies Joe Carver; he left no worldly goods, but left an honorable name and many
friends to mourn his death; and no better democrat ever lived." Signed Old Reb"

Further information: His name was Joel Yancy Carver and he is buried in the Kilgore plot at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery."
