Calvin changed the date on his birth certificate so he could join the U S Navy at age 16, on Dec 10, 1941. He served his country until 14 Mar 1947. He was on the ship when the bomb was tested off the Bikini Islands.
He met Mary E Duke on 14 July 1947 and they were married 8 days later in Wichita Falls TX. They had 3 daughters: Francis Louise b Sept 1948, Linda Susan b Nov 1950 and Laura Jane b Dec 1958.
He lived with multiple myloma (cancer) for 6 years before passing away in the VA hospital in Temple, Texas
