CLARKSDALE - John Everette Partain, 62, retired carpenter, died Friday at his home after a long ill-ness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at National Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Sledge. He was a member of Belen Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran. Partain, the husband of Maxine McCracken Partain, also leaves five daughters, Mrs. Minetta Moore of Clarksdale, Mrs. Daphne Gaye White of Biloxi, Mrs. Melanie Hensley of Front Royal, Va., Mrs. Cheryl Adams of San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Linda Gregory of Baltimore; three sons, Randy Partain of Lambert, Michael Partain of Henning, Tenn., and Thomas Partain of Clarksdale; two step-daughters, Mrs. Betty Brower of Clarksdale and Mrs. Shirley Hodges of Greenville; three stepsons, Dewey Ashmore Jr. of Greenville, Tony Ashmore of Minden, La., and Woodrow Wilson of Hamburg, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Hanson of Davenport, lowa, and Mrs. Gerald Bradley of Batesville, 13 grandchildren  and two great-grandchildren.
