Pioneer of Orange City Died Wednesday

John T. Klein, 92 years, five months and nine days, died Wednesday June 11 at 2 P.M. at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Fisher, where he had been residing recently.

Mr. Klein was born in Pella, Ia., Marion County in a log cabin in 1860.

He married Henrietta Hospers in 1884, and they moved to Orange City three years later.

To this union was born five children.

Preceeding him in death was his wife in 1910 and his eldest son Teunis in 1922.

In 1912 he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia M. Schultz. To this union was born one son. Lydia Klein passed away July 8, 1939.

J.T. Klein was a retired merchant and formerly was active in civic affairs. He was the oldest member of the American Reformed Chuch.

Survivors are two sons, Henry H. of Orange City, Dr. John Paul of Fremont, Mich., and three daughters, Mrs. Kittie Vande Waa, Mrs. Gertude Fisher of Orange City, Mrs. Eva Hilmert of Holland, Mich. Also eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, one brother Martin, two sisters Mrs. Henrietta Klein and Mrs. Mary Bruinekool all of Pella, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Sat. June 14 at the American Reformed Church with Rev. J. A. Veldman officiating.

Pallbearers were Tj. De Vries, Nick Bogaard, Arie Van Marel, Peter Balkema, Teunis E. Klay and Harry Dykstra.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the service were Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Klein of Fremont, Mich., Mrs. W. J. Hilmert of Holland, Mich., Dr. Carl Vande Waa of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Leo Grether, David and Le Anne of Volga, Iowa, M. T. Klein, Will Klein, G.B. Ver Steeg and Mrs. Teunis Klein of Pella, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Morgan of Starbuck, Minn., Mr. Donald Klein of Rock Valley, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. G. Vande Berg of Sioux City, Ia.
