Dorothy "June" Moore, age 73, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. She was born the daughter of Albert and Dorothy Adams on July 14, 1939 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville High School and later, the Ottumwa Beauty Academy.

She owned and operated June's House of Beauty in Centerville, Iowa for 54 years. She took pride in her business and cherished the friendships she made through the years. June was honored that her niece, Mary Jo Adams-DLC, shared her passion for cosmetology and followed in her footsteps. Some of the joys throughout her life included bowling, gardening, sewing, crafts, reading, and cooking. By far, her favorite past times were spending quality time, holidays, and vacations with family.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Dorothy Adams and a brother, Larry Adams, and grandmother Pauline Adams.

June is survived by her parents Albert and Mary Adams of Centerville, Iowa; brother, Ronnie Adams of Centerville, Iowa; daughter, Tammy and her husband, Wade Burgher of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; and Terry Smothers of Des Moines, Iowa. Her grandchildren, Tyler Burgher of Fulton, Missouri, Matthew Burgher of Columbia, Missouri, Zach Smothers of Denver, Colorado, Taylor and his wife, Paige Smothers of Carlisle, Iowa and Tanner Smothers of Des Moines, Iowa; great grandchildren, Emma and Cole Burgher of Fulton, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, June 11 at the Schmidt Family Funeral home in Centerville, Iowa with burial to follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Monday, June 10, 2013 with the family present from 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home. Per June's request, the casket will remain closed at both the visitation and funeral service.

The family has requested memorials to be made CRC(Cancer Research Center,) as June was a 22-year cancer survivor. Memorials may be left with or mailed to the Schnmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.
