Vickie Gray Wensil Pethel, 57, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 6, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Revs. Robert Howard and Chris Hawks. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Pethel was born Nov. 29, 1955, in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late Roosevelt G. Gray and Minnie Starnes Gray. She was also preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. She was a homemaker and a member of Miami Baptist Church. She loved being a "maw maw" to her grand- and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Pethel; daughter, Tammy Cress and husband, Todd; son, Jammy Wensil and wife, Sheree, all of Concord; stepdaughter, Jodi Hedrick and husband, Chad; grandchildren, Mariah and Lukas Cress, Damien Wensil and Madison, Matt, Justin and Allyson; great-grandchildren, Riley and Myles Cress; two sisters; four brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
