Howard E. Staggers, 89, of Waynesburg, died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2003, in Mt. Macrina Manor in Uniontown.

He was born October 2, 1914, in Holbrook, a son of George W. and Zella Kerr Staggers.

Mr. Staggers was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church in Waynesburg, where he was a former trustee and served on the administrative board.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.

For 39 years, he worked as a mechanic for Fox Ford in Waynesburg and repaired lawnmowers for Waynesburg ServiceStar for several years.

His wife, Aliff Connor Staggers, died May 28, 1979.

Surviving are a daughter, Trudy E. Staggers of Waynesburg; two sons, Loren H. Staggers of Waynesburg and Larry Staggers of Amity; and two grandchildren, Shelby and Breanna Staggers.

Mr. Staggers was the last of his immediate family.

Deceased are a daughter, Judy Boger; and a sister, Gertrude Dukate.
