Born to Rev. Virgil Young Wood (1842-1907) of Alabama & Martha J. "Mattie" Mitchell Wood (1847-1917) of Tennessee, who married in 1865. Alexander was named for Alexander Campbell of Virginia, a founder of the Disciples of Christ denomination. Rev. Virgil Wood was a Disciples of Christ minister.

Alexander sold insurance and was member of the Knights of the Macabees, a men's fraternal organization.

He married 1) Abby Cooper (1874-1899) on May 18, 1892, in Jack County, TX. One son, Henry Homer Wood (1892-1894; Memorial# 18836294).

A.C. married 2) Ida Helen Keene on Nov. 11, 1901, in Jacksboro, TX.

Four children:
• Virginia Young Wood Taylor (1902-1996)
• Mary Ann Wood Cunningham (1904-1977)
• Mattie Allene Wood Griffith (1908-1963)
• Alexander Campbell Wood, Jr. (1911-1994)

From The Jacksboro Gazette, Thursday, May 18, 1899:

Death of Mrs. A.C. Wood
Mrs. A.C. Wood died at the home of her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Stanley Cooper, 16 May 1899, after an illness of several months, and was buried at Oakwood. The funeral was largely attended by many friends and acquaintances of the family.

Mrs. Wood was the only daughter and great favorite in the family, and having grown up and always resided in Jacksboro and had a large number of friends who deeply sympathize with the husband, parents and brothers in their great sorrow. --submitted by Dorman Holub

Miss Ida Keene and A.C. Wood were married on 11 November 1900 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Garrison on Church Street, Rev. G.I. Britain officiating.

Miss Keene has many friends in Jacksboro. Mr. Wood has long been known here, being an old citizen and business man of Jacksboro. --submitted by Dorman Holub
