Laura L. Reid, age 83, of Onaway, died at Tendercare Health Center in Rogers City on Friday May 31, 2013. The daughter of Russell and Clara (Selner) Paulus, Laura was born in Elkhart, Indiana on November 22, 1929.
She married Emerald Reid on April 22, 1966 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Onaway.
The Paulus family moved to Onaway from Indiana when Laura was 16 years old. Laura enrolled in Onaway High School, graduated in 1946 as the salutatorian of her class, and eventually founded the Onaway High School Alumni Association.
She was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was on the election board for the City of Onaway for many years.
Laura was known for her involvement in the Onaway Schools and for being an avid Onaway Cardinals fan. Because of her dedication to Onaway academics, sports, and alumni Laura was very proud to receive the honor of serving as Grand Marshall of the Onaway Homecoming Parade.
She was also well-known in the community for her superior skills as a seamstress. Laura sewed and altered many gowns for weddings, proms, and homecomings, tailored and mended clothing, and sewed Halloween costumes.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Anyone who ever tasted her breakfast biscuits would attest to the fact that Laura was a superb baker.

Laura's funeral was conducted on Monday June 3, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Onaway. Pastor Joshua Ketelsen will officiate.
Laura's final resting place is at Waverly Township Cemetery.
Her family has suggested donations to honor the memory of Laura be made to the Onaway
High School Alumni Association.
