BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, John Edwin Barker, 62, was reunited with his daughter Billie on her birthday. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at his home.
John was born on December 11, 1950 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Dr. Floyd N. and Muriel L. Bunker Barker.
John married his sweetheart, Patty Jeppesen on July 2, 1987 in Brigham City, Utah. They worked together to raise eight children to whom he showed unconditional love and support to each and everyone.
John was a mechanic at Hansen Chevrolet for many years. He worked at ATK for 25 years and spent the last twelve years on long term disability.
John was a member of the LDS Church.
He loved fishing, camping, fishing, four wheeling and adored his children and grandchildren. His favorite past time was poking his grandchildren with his cane. His sense of humor, laughter and smile will be cherished and missed.
A special thanks to his friends and family who cared for him over the last few years, Brian Parsons, Craig and ShiRae Nelson for their special friendship and to Cathy from AFI Hospice for her special care. His children would like to thank his wife, Patty for her continuous loving care.
Surviving are his wife, Patty; six children, Jason (Jennifer) Ball; Michelle (Heath) Green; Tami (Andy) Norris; Catherine (Kyle) Abel; Steve (Kristie) Barker; Melanie (Taron) Barber; son-in-law, Shane Memmott; two sisters, Claudia (DeVern) Howard and Linda (Randy) Issacson and his 25 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Billie Jo Memmott and one son, Michael John Barker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 am at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT.
Viewings will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:40 am at the funeral chapel.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery
