Ruby McConnell, age 89, of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at her residence. A daughter of the late John and Bertha Anderson Graham, she was born in Jonesville on August 13, 1923. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray "Jigs" McConnell, two sisters, Jeanette Kinser and Mildred Hines and by three brothers, Jimmy, Charles and John Graham Jr. She was a member of York Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Mike McConnell and wife Sandra and Larry McConnell and wife Ilene; four grandchildren, Steven McConnell, April Carpenter, Austin McConnell and Corbin McConnell; and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville. The funeral service will follow at 8 pm with Tracy McPherson officiating. The graveside service will be held at 10 am Monday, June 10, at Lee Memorial Gardens. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:45 am for the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to York Chapel Methodist Church, 162 York Drive, Jonesville, VA 24263.
