Lloyd was born on June 28, 1922 in Watkins Glen, the son of the late Elmer and Cora [Sreeves] Pierce. He graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Sept. 28, 1946 [or Oct. 5] in Watkins Glen, he married the former Maude J. Dencenburg, she passed away on June 17, 2006.
A life long area resident, "Pete" as he was fondly called began his working career at Shepard-Niles Crane and Hoist Company. He also worked for a time at G.L.F. before it became Agway and Ithaca Gun. A machinist by trade, he eventually became a supervisor for Ingersoll-Rand in Painted Post, where he retired after 25 years in 1981.
Mr. Pierce was a member of the Weston Presbyterian Church, a Life Member of the Tyrone Volunteer Fire Dept., Watkins Glen VFW Post # 2674, a member of the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge #1546, a former member of the Tyrone Odd Fellows and a former Board of Director of the Schuyler Co. A.R.C.. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being a part-time neighborhood plumber and electrician.
He is survived and will be missed by his daughter, Judy A. (Bill) Sline of Romulus; his son, Lloyd E. "Skip" (Bonnie) Pierce Jr. of Wake Forest, N.C.; four grandchildren ... four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a son, George R. Pierce in 1994, two sisters; and two brothers. - Finger Lake Times, Sept 2010.
