Suggested edit: Morris V. Evans, Jr., 82, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at his home. Born: January 16, 1930, in Portland, PA, he was a son of the late Morris and Christine Frutchey Evans. Personal: His wife of 40 years, the former Alida Zucker, died August 7, 2007. Morris retired as chief of police from the former Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, Marlboro, NJ, where he worked for 30 years. He served with the Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart, Army Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. Morris enjoyed bowling and watching horse races. Memberships: He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors: A son, Morris E. Evans and his wife Elleni, of Easton; four daughters, Deborah Coopersmith and her husband Richard, of Easton, Sue Walters and her husband Rodger, of Lehighton, Robin Schnell and her husband Brent, with whom he resided and Carol LaBarre and her husband Danny, of Nazareth; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
