Sarah Jane Porter, daughter of Ranson and Nancy Porter, was born May 16, 1865, near Indianapolis, Ind., and departed this life January 25, 1934, at Lamoni, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Jesse V. Edgington November 4, 1883. To this union was given nine children, eight of whom survive. Clyde and Clate Edgington and Esther Argabright, of Lamoni, Onie Berry, Des Moines; Goldie Berry, Ratoul, Ill ; Bertha DeVenny, Las Cruces, N. M.; Flossie McClure, Kansas City, Mo.; Veda Pyle, Junction City, Kan.; Ruth Evelyn who passed on March 19, 1906.
Her husband, Jesse V. Edgington, passed away January 24, 1912, at Seymour, Mo., the family moving to Lamoni in April 1912.
On January 27, 1917, she was united in marriage to George T. Jessup, of Orient, Iowa.
Those surviving are her husband, 8 children, 24 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Elder J. D. Stead delivering the sermon. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
