Cox, James Logan 1924 - 2006 James L. Cox died peacefully at his home in Sun City West, AZ on December 14 after a long battle with cancer. He is remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a warm, genial host who was quick with a good story and the lilt of Irish laughter. JL is survived by his wife of 9 years, Peggy, and six children, Jim (Maria), Mary (John Kerans), Joe (Dannikka), Dan (Suzy), Jean (Joe Campbell), and John (Molly), and 11 grandchildren. He was also a second father to Peggy's children, Julianne (husband, Tim Rubley), Tom Nimens, Mary Jane (Brian Coe), Jon Nimens and Jay Nimens (Cyndy), 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. JL was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Therese (Marier) and his son Tom. Jim was born August 5, 1924 in Graceville, Minnesota. He was a decorated Army Air Corps veteran who served in the Pacific during WWII and was awarded a presidential unit citation. He graduated from St. John's University in Collegeville, MN and married Therese in 1950. JL worked as an executive for Mobil Oil Corporation for 37 years. He was an active volunteer and benefactor in Catholic parishes and numerous social organizations wherever he lived. He was a former President of the Minnesota Club of Arizona, was a lifelong member of the Elks Club, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and was former chairman of the First Order of the Grey Whales. Jim was known for turning strangers into friends almost immediately. His astute advice and practical wisdom were valued by all. In the tradition of his Irish roots, he was a charming, joyous storyteller and a good dancer. He loved to laugh and helped others do the same. His optimistic, fun loving attitude remained a life-long gift.
