Arletha Scarlett
Arletha Pearl Scarlett, daughter of John and Stella Wilford Daughtery, was born June 21, 1911, at Republic, and died August 9, 2000, at South Austin Hospital, Austin, Tex., at the age of 89 years, one month and 18 days.
She received her education in Republic public schools.
She was united in marriage to Lawrence M. Scarlett in June 1932 and to this union seven children were born. She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in the Republic community.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Republic and United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two infant daughters, one infant son, three sisters, three brothers and one grandson.
She is survived by three sons, Loyle Scarlett of Pahrump, Nev., William Scarlett of Memphis, Tenn., Arlo Scarlett of Henderson, Neb.; one daughter, Karen Scarlett of Dale, Tex., an adopted daughter, Teryl Cardella of Dale, Tex.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Daugherty of Republic.
Funeral services were held August 14 at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Memorial Chapel, conducted by Rev. Paul Morris. Interment was in Washington Cemetery, rural Republic.
