Ray Gentry, age 74, a resident of Abingdon, VA in the Cleveland Community died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at his residence. He was born on May 9, 1932 the son of the late John Wesley and Ida Blanch Rouse Gentry. He was a member of the Denton's Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Gentry was retired from the State Highway department having given 32 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Katherine Mitchell and a brother, John Gentry

Funeral services for Ray Gentry will be conducted at 11:00am Tuesday, August 29, 2006 in the Denton's Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Christopher E. Meyer, III, Rev. Tim Stevens, and Rev. Les Ketron officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Paul Combs D. Combs, Sammy Price, Howard Poe, Hubert Haworth, and Jack Roberts. The family will receive friends at the Denton's Valley Baptist Church from 6-8pm Monday evening. The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to Tina Booher, Lisa Cregger, Teresa Kiser, Vickie Mullins, Bob Neace, Christopher Pile MD, Louise Slone, and Wanda Farris all of Hospice of Southwest Virginia for there care and compassion during this difficult time.
