Charles H. Starr, Jr. December 1, 1918 - May 6, 2012 Charles "Bud" Starr, Jr., son of Charles H and Susan Starr, born December 1, 1918 in McKeesport, PA died May 6, 2012 in Los Angeles, CA. In his youth Bud was active in the Boy Scouts and attained his Eagle rank as well as a Counselor at the local summer scout camp. He graduated from McKeesport High School, Pennsylvania Military College (where he was the senior cadet of the Corps of Cadets in his graduating year) and the University of Pittsburgh School Of Law. He served as an officer in the field Artillery during WW II and continued a military career totaling 33 years. He was nominated by the President for his first star in 1968 and commanded the 40th Infantry Brigade and National Guard until his military retirement in 1973 when he received his second star. During his military career he graduated from the Field Artillery Basic Officers Course, the Advance Officers Course (both at Fort Sill, OK) and the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS. He also received numerous awards and decorations during his military years. In addition to his military career, Bud also had a civilian career. He retired as Vice President of First Interstate Bank of California (now Wells Fargo) in 1988. For many years he served on the Board of Governors of the Music Center and was Treasurer. He was elected to be one of the Directors Emeriti in the current configuration of the Music Center Board of Directors. He has been active as a parishioner at All Saints Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills and served a four year term on the Vestry of the Parish. Bud is survived by a sister Arabella Starr Bracken of Chocowinity, NC and four nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews. His partner of 47 years died in 2000. Donations in his honor may be made to the Music Guild, All Saints' Episcopal Parish, 504 N. Camden Dr., Beverly Hills, CA 90210. There will be a celebration of his life at All Saints Church on Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 AM followed by a reception at All Saints Parish House.
