Loretta's earthly journey ended with her promotion to Paradise with Jesus Christ on June 2, 2013.
She was a 21 year cancer survivor. Loretta was born on July 10, 1946, in Fitchburg, Mass., the daughter of Alphonse (Joe) and Irene Dion.
She graduated from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School '64 and a 1968 graduate of Fitchburg State with a BS in Special Education and Elementary Education. In 1990, she completed her Masters Degree in Early Childhood education from West Virginia.
Loretta was married May 8, 1971, to Edward Williamson of Parkersburg, W.Va., in Brooklyn, N.Y. The couple worked together at Teen Challenge Ministries in NYC. While her husband pursued his degrees in preparation for pastoral ministry, Loretta taught at Morgan Junior High School in Lexington, Ky., and Warner Elementary in Nicholasville, Ky.
Loretta and Ed served as a team in the pastorate in Morgantown, W.Va., beginning in June 1978. They founded Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church in Morgantown in 1984, and Covenant Christian School in 1990. When Dr. Williamson was elected to the Episcopacy of the Evangelical Methodist Church in 1998, they moved to Indianapolis, Ind., to the International Headquarters. Loretta served as the Pastor of Children Ministries at the Community Church of Greenwood in Greenwood, Ind., and continued as a speaker to churches and conferences in the USA and Mexico.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Edward Williamson, three children and their spouses, Rev. Benjamin and Andrea Williamson of Circleville, Ohio, Mrs. Danielle and David Ellis of Westfield, Ind., and Rev. Nathan and Leah Williamson of Morgantown; eight grandchildren; her mother, Irene Dion; sisters Bernadette Dion Oinonen of Townsend, Mass., Denise Dion Hallfors of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and brother Armand Dion of Tampa, Fla.
Loretta was preceded in death by her father, Joe Dion, and brother, Dr. George Dion.
The Memorial Service will be held at Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church, 802 Greenbag Road, Morgantown, W.Va., Friday, June 14 at 6:30 pm. Reception and visitation with the family will be prior to the service at 4:30 p.m.
The family asked that donations be given to the Loretta Williamson Christian School Scholarship Fund through International Headquarters of the Evangelical Methodist Church, P.O.
