Burial services for Col. Charles Grant French, U.S.A., ret., of Coronado, who died Wednesday were held in the Greenwood cemetery yesterday.
Col. French was graduated from West Point in 1888, and served in Alaska with the first troops sent there during the gold rush to the Klondike in 1900 as a company commander and saw service in Cuba in the Spanish-American war. In the World War, he served with the fifth division in France and later was in command of the American rest camp in Aix le Bains. After the World War, he retired and had resided in Coronado until the time of his death.
Surviving is a daughter, Marion French Swift of San Antonio, Tex.
