Jacob Blum Nov. 26, 1866 – June 1937

Funeral services for Jacob Blum, 70 years of age, a life-long resident of Washington
township and Monticello, who passed away in his home om Monroe street at 5:30 o'clock Saturday morning following an illness of several months' duration, were conducted at 1:30 Monday afternoon in the home and at 2 in the Evangelical church.
Rev. J. Gatermann officiated in the absence of Rev. A. Muehlmeier, pastor of the Monticello Reformed church. The Reformed church is undergoing repairs, thus making it necessary to hold services in the Evangelical church. Pallbearers were: Jacob Rupp, Sr., Jacob Zimmerman, John Moritz, W. E. Blum, Jacob Voegeli and Walter Voegeli.
Mr. Blum had been ill with heart trouble and complications for nearly a year and for the
last few weeks prior to his death he had been bedfast. Mr. Blum's sudden death came as a sad blow to his numerous friends and acquaintances, many of whom were unaware of the serious nature of his illness.

Jacob Blum was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Werner Blum, having been born in Washington
township Nov. 26, 1866. On Oct. 12, 1893, he was united in marriage to Rose Theiler, also of Washington township. For many years they farmed in partnership with the gentleman's brother, Fred Blum, in conducting what was widely known as the Blum Bros. farm. Mr. and Mrs. Blum moved to Monticello about 12 years ago, where Mrs. Blum passed away in 1928. On Jan. 21, 1931, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Marie Schilling, Milwaukee, the ceremony taking place in that city.
Mr, Blum's death has occasioned sincere regret among a host of friends and acquaintances,all of whom held him in highest regard. Not only was he an ideal neighbor but a kind husband and father as well. During his life-time he had established himself as an honest and industrious worker.
Mr. Blum was a member of the Monticello Reformed church.
Survivors, besides the bereaved widow, are three daughters, Mrs. J. J. Hefty, New Glarus, Mrs. Edwin S. Kennedy, Monticello, and Mrs. Jacob Heim, Washington township; one step-daughter, Miss Frances Schilling, at home; two brothers, Fred Blum, Sr., Washington township, and Werner Blum, Monroe;. one sister, Mrs. John Blumer, Monticello, and several grandchildren.
