FORT EDWARD -- Laula W. West, 88, of Fort Edward, went home into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Laula's interests in younger years included line and clog dancing, all forms of arts and crafts, cake decorating, sewing, painting, ceramics and home decorating. She was an avid gardener. Laula was involved in so many groups and activities over her lifetime, they would be too long to list. She had a passion for music that started when she sang with her sister on the radio as a young girl in Philadelphia, where she was born.

She was an original member of the "Mastersinger's" when that group was formed and continued to sing with the group when it became "Voices of the Adirondacks." She played several musical instruments and formed and sang in several church choir groups over the years, as she traveled in the military with her husband, and after settling in the Glens Falls area. Her smile and love of the Lord were two of her most recognizable features to all those who loved and knew her. She will dearly be missed.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Gerry West.

Burial will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
