Funeral services were held for Michael T. Archuletta late of 724 Graphite St., Florence Colorado 81226. He died at a local hospital Dec 20,1983 at age 79. Services were held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Canon City,Colorado. The Bishop G.Vance Smith officated. David Sandoval sang "face to Face" and " Until Then". " O My Father" was sung by Mary Toponce. Organist for the service was Mrs. J.L.Rencher.
Paulbarers were John Graft, Paul Chase, Andrew Glaves, Nichie Lucero, Charles Carlson, and Brian Carlson.
Archuletta was born June 13, 1904 in Del Norte,Colorado to Crecencio Joe Archuletta and Adelesia Espinosa. He grew up in the Florence-Fremont County Area of Colorado. He was raised by his Grandfather Santiago Archuleta and Step-Grandmother Maria Solome Gallagoes. He attended school in the Florence Area as well. Later in life worked 33 years he worked in the Coal Mines in the South Field South of Folrence,CO. Most of this time was spent under ground. Mike also worked for the Brown Construction Company of Pueblo,CO and as a Civil Servant ( Federal) at Ft. Carson,CO. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, member of AARP, Golden Age Center, and Fremont County Prospectors Club.
On Oct 28, 1933 he married Floripa Sandoval daughter of Jose Ventura Sandoval and Felecita Pacheco of the San Luis Valley in Colorado. In addition to his wife Floripa Sandoval there are also 5 children who survive Vivian F. Aragon (Gilbert) of Pueblo,CO,Dorthey E. Brown (John L.) of Sunrise Beach,MO, James Archuletta (Norma) of Rockvale, CO, Louis R Archuletta (Elfriede B) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Michael T Archuletta Jr. (Delores) of Florence,CO. 10 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother James M. Archuletta ( Chello) of Florence,CO and numerous nieces and nephews remain.
He was preceeded in death by a daughter Cleofas Archuletta and 2 sons Miguel Tony Archuletta, Ray Adam Archuletta.
Internment was at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City,CO with arrangements made by Andrews Funeral Home.
