Joseph L. Mahony was born the son of Eugene and Margaret (Lynch) Mahony at North Garry Owen on June 5, 1888. Joseph Mahony later married Elizabeth Schermer on Nov. 22, 1914 in Dyersville. He worked for over 50 years at the Farley State Bank, in 1950 being named president and serving as Chairman of the Board for 11 years, Joseph helped organize the Farley Creamery Co., was town treasurer for 35 years, and was active in many other organizations. He died March 27, 1967. The Mahoney’s had one daughter, Lois Buckley, of California.
Joseph was secretary of the Farley Council of the K of C’s for many years. He also served in this capacity at the state level.
