Marla is the daughter of Charles "Chuck" Harris and Saundra Mendenhall. She served an L.D.S. Mission to the Great Lakes Mission. She worked for the US Forest Service as a firefighter and fire tower lookout. She was attending New Mexico State University, studying to become a teacher at the time of her death. She was found dead at the age of 22. She had been dead for four or five days and had possibly died of a seizure.
